About

This collaboration started out with an idea of somehow combining the fields of classical contemporary music and contemporary jazz improvisation, creating a bridge between the musical worlds. The resulting album, All in Twilight, is driven by a deep admiration for the original music and its expressive potential. Toru Takemitsu's guitar suite All in Twilight with its richness and wide musical spectrum, Erland von Koch’s Utanmyra-variationer based on a Swedish folk music tune, the explosive guitar piece Fuoco by French composer Roland Dyens and Thin Places, a new composition written for the duo by Stefan Klaverdal.

Jazz pianist Peter Knudsen has never been a stranger to classical music, on the contrary he has for many years combined classical music and jazz. His albums explore themes as diverse as French Impressionism, Swedish Romanticism as well as original music for different settings, from smaller groups to big band. With the Peter Knudsen Kvartett he improvised over the music of Wilhelm Peterson-Berger and recorded an album on the composer's own piano.

Classical guitarist David Härenstam actually started his full time musical education with jazz guitar as his main instrument before switching to the Classical guitar. He has participated in several jazz recordings as well as touring with his own jazz/classical hybrid David Härenstam Trio. As a classical musician David has toured Europe, China and Australia both as soloist and with various ensembles and has so far recorded 11 solo and chamber music albums.
