The new double CD in the Artist Consort series from Genuin, dedicated to the great pianist Sebastian Benda, comprises recordings from the years 1961 to 1994. A period of over thirty years, then, and yet the spectrum spans a much longer period of time. The musical memory of Benda, son of a famous family of musicians, friend and pupil of Frank Martin, comprises at least an entire century, perhaps even more.
Thus we experience not only irreplaceable archive recordings, but also passionately felt music by Benda's contemporaries Villa-Lobos and Martin, as well as Beethoven, Schubert and others. A true musical monument!
