Thomas Trotter (organ)About
Originally released in 2009, this benchmark recording of organ works by CPE Bach is re-released to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the composer’s birth on 8 March 1714.
International organ virtuoso Thomas Trotter plays a selection of works by CPE Bach, including four Sonatas, fugues and other pieces.
This is wonderfully expressive and little-known music from the son of J S Bach, a rare recording devoted to eighteenth-century music from this world-renowned performer.
Performed on the beautiful Mitterreither (1773)/Flentrop (1973) organ of Eton College Hall – an organ largely contemporary with the music and the only authentic continental organ of this period in the UK.
“...feeling for CPE Bach’s drama, idiosyncratic charm, and playfulness… easily outshines his rivals.” - BBC Music Magazine
“A master player and sparklingly attractive music… listening delight… hugely enjoyable release” - Gramophone
“performances full of expressive character” - BBC Radio 3 CD Review
Total Playing Time: 66:48
