About

This collection of 18th-century works for two harpsichords shows not only the wealth of repertoire within an era but also of the differences between harpsichords. Devlieger and Penson, playing six first-rate instruments in this recording make this clear in a very musical and non academic way.

Jan Devlieger was born in Ghent in 1967 and studied at the conservatory there, gaining his diplomas in harmony, counterpoint and fugue.

Guy Penson was born in Ronse in 1958 and rapidly achieved recognition both in Belgium and abroad soon after concluding his training in piano and harpsichord. Guy Penson’s impressive list of recordings numbers more than one hundred CDs for such labels as Ricercar, Polydor,Vox Temporis and Hyperion. His solo recordings, and those made for Ricercar in particular, have been much praised by both the Belgian and international press. Warmly recommended.
