Thomas DausgaardAbout
The last two symphonies are both brief, but are musically very different. In Symphony No.15 we find modernist features, while Symphony No.16 can be called a personal testament in the spirit of Romanticism.
The CD concludes with a couple of early orchestral pieces and three world premiere recordings of late works (Hvidbjerg-Drapa, Fanfares for orchestra and Res absùrda!?).
This is the final disc in Dacapo’s successful and highly acclaimed series of Langgaard’s symphonies recorded by Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Thomas Dausgaard.
“Thomas Dausgaard is working his way through an authoritative new Langgaard cycle with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Choir ... Mr. Dausgaard’s keen advocacy elicits polished, persuasive accounts that live up to Langgaard’s motto: “Long Live Beauty”.” The New York Times on 6220517
