About

Leopold Simoneau (1916-2006) and his wife Pierrette Alarie (born 1921) were among the leading singers of the 20th century.

They performed on world stages, mostly in Mozart roles, and with such conductors as Bruno Walter, Herbert von Karajan, Thomas Beecham, Charles Munch, Otto Klemperer, Dimitri Mitropoulos, Georg Szell, Karl Bohm, Rudolf Moralt, Carlo Maria Giulini, Igor Stravinsky, Hans Rosbaud, Josef Krips, Rudolf Paumgartner and Hermann Scherchen.
