Nicola PaszkowskiAbout
From a very tender age, Hummel’s career was blessed with success. At the age of ten he began to give concerts all over northern Europe, presenting himself as a child prodigy. He was later to study under the guidance of Haydn, Salieri and Albrechtsberger.
In 1816 Hummel was appointed maestro di cappella in Stuttgart. He then moved on to occupy the same post at the grand ducal court of Weimar, where he was to stay for the rest of his life.
The sixth and last CD offers one of Hummel’s deservedly most famous works: the delightful Concerto in G major for mandolin and orchestra, and closes with a second version of the Sonata Op. 5 n° 3.
