About
"As a classical musician engaging with the music of Astor Piazzolla, I sometimes felt as if I was on a different planet. Not at first glance, though: of course I am familiar with the music of Bach and with the parts of Piazzolla’s œuvre that are inspired by the music of Stravinsky, Ravel, or Bartók. And although I am not unfamiliar with the other facets of his work – Jazz and the Tango Argentino – the act of playing Piazzolla’s music on my own instrument made me realise how individual and truly different it is, and what a unique and incomparable cosmos he created by putting together this combination of musical elements. As I said, this wasn’t necessarily obvious at first glance, but at second and third it was, and it became ever more noticeable as we went along." – Friedrich Kleinhapl
