Bl!ndmanAbout
A tribute to the American Minimalists, 3 icons: Philip Glass, Terry Riley and Steve Reich.
ICONS a mix of well-known and lesser known works showcasing the eclecticism of the genre.
BL!NDMAN was founded in 1988 by saxophonist composer Eric Sleichim; in 2008 the saxophone quartet expanded to a collective of four quartets with the BL!NDMAN [drums], BL!NDMAN [strings] and BL!NDMAN [hybrid] quartet.
ICONS showcases brilliantly how this collective works and the exceptional timbres that its unique line-up generates, creating a 21st-century orchestral sound with saxophone, string and percussion quartets, piano, electric guitar, tubax and electronics.
The solo works combine the virtuosity of the soloists with electronic dubbing while the instruments and powerful harmony of the entire BL!NDMAN-ensemble in the tutti works present a wide variety of perspectives to give due justice to these remarkable compositions.
Eric Sleichim, known in the art world for his collaborations with artists such as Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Ivo van Hove, Heiner Goebels, Jan Fabre, … travels the world with his compositions and ensemble.
