About
Stéphane Tétreault was awarded an Opus prize for performer of the year 2020-2021 by the Conseil québécois de la musique. He also received the 2019 Virginia Parker prize from the Canada Council for the Arts, and was nominated for the Ontario Arts Council's Oscar Morawetz prize. In 2018, he received the Maureen Forrester Next Generation Award. In 2015, he was selected to join the Classe d'Excellence de violoncelle with Gautier Capuçon, a project organised by the Fondation Louis Vuitton, and received the Women's Musical Club of Toronto Career Development Award. First ever Soloist-in-residence of the Orchestre Métropolitain, he performed alongside Yannick Nézet-Séguin during the 2014-2015 season. His most recent album, Transfiguration, based on a series of concerts he gave with harpist Valérie Milot, was launched on 6 May 2022.
Denis Plante grew up in an artistic family in Montréal, surrounded by period instruments, costumes, and theatre sets. A charismatic soloist, he has performed with artists such as Diane Dufresne, Gilles Vigneault, and André Gagnon. After a stint in Argentina, he settled in Québec where he founded the ensemble Tango Boréal, a laboratory for exploring impressionistic tango. His creations and compositions have won numerous awards, including best song at the Festival de chanson, and a Creator of the Year award from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. Both of his latest discs on the ATMA classique label, Tango Boréal (2010-2011) and Pampa Blues (2014-2015), won the Opus Prize for Recording of the Year in the World Music category.
