On 20 January 1977, Dr Paul Ganzer wrote in the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper: "The well- known Munich soprano, a master of the clearest diction, who commands the most difficult intervals with an absolute ear and sound technique, is a consummate interpreter of contemporary Lied singing." In 1999, Dr Hartmut Lück called her the "Grande Dame of New Music".
Edith Urbanczyk was born in 1932 in Breslau (Poland) but raised in Munich (Germany). She first studied violin at the State University of Music in Munich in Prof. Karl Freund's master class. Upon completion of her master's diploma, she went to Vienna to successfully complete vocal studies as an opera singer with Prof. Julius Patzak. Edith Urbanczyk was a lecturer at the Richard Strauss Conservatory of the City of Munich from 1968. In 1980 she was called to teach at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Robert Maximilian Helmschrott was born in Weilheim (Germany) in 1938. He studied at the University of Music and Theatre Munich. In 1967 he was awarded a scholarship to study at the German Academy Villa Massimo in Rome. In 1973?/?74 he studied at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. From 1972– 2003 he was appointed Professor, Vice-President and President at the University of Music and Theatre Munich. His awards include the "Musikförderungspreis der Landeshauptstadt München" (1972), the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (1980) and becoming the Cultural Laureate of the City of Weilheim (2014).
On 4 September 2022, Edith Urbanczyk celebrated her 90th birthday: the occasion upon which to dedicate this resounding commemorative documentary to her.
