About
The Filip Jers Quartet presents on the album Plays Classical their latest project where they interpret classical pieces. They go forward by going back in music history to take on the likes of Handel, von Bingen, Saint-Saëns and Tchaikovsky.
Filip Jers Quartet on the album Plays Classical: “We have approached classical music with the utmost devotion, respectfully disrespecting compositions through twists and turns. We hear the jazz in them, the playful improvisation bubbling under the surface, and this is what we try to bring out in our interpretations.”
Filip Jers is one of the world’s most prominent harmonica players, and is well-known in Sweden’s musical spheres. His approach to playing the harmonica is unique in its artistry and tone, filled with emotion and playfulness. His musical palette is lyrical, colourful and full of contrasts. As the first harmonica player ever to graduate from Stockholm’s Royal Academy of Music, he has played in more than 30 countries worldwide. He is also a composer and music teacher. In 2016 Filip Jers received the Swedish Radio’s Musician of the Year award Jazzkatten.
