Under the main title “A strong castle is our God”, the ensemble presents works from Polyhymnia caduceatrix et panegyrica and Musae Sioniae. The recording was made in St Mary's Church in Lemgo in order to use the Scherer organ there from 1613 – in addition to corresponding instruments from that time, which enrich the vocal sounds of La Protezione della Musica.
The ensemble has its roots in Bremen and Leipzig (and there, of course, connections to the St Thomas Choir), and this is already the second CD by this young ensemble after Kieling’s St Matthew Passion (ARC20020).
