About

Does heritage have a sound? Do monuments have their own music? Acousmeta summarised four years of creation at the 9-9bis, a remarkable, emblematic UNESCO classified site. By using a Metaphone (a unique musical instrument-building imagined by Louis Dandrel), Alexandre Lévy put chains, doors, walls, and machinery from the mining site into music, and he also paid tribute to the immigrant populations that came there to take part in the 20th century’s biggest industrial adventure. Acousmeta is a book record to dive into human history in steel and concrete material, the infernal brass bands and Sunday balls. 60 pages of images and texts, 1h30 of music to feel the heritage of sound and the sound of heritage.
