About

Reviews

This is all about the mesmerising Sabine Devieilhe traversing the vocal rhetoric of exceptional masterpieces by the two defining masters of north German music before the 19th century, with her distinctive manipulation of line and text, and gorgeous tonal production. ... Devieilhe shamelessly sails through these essays in loss, whoever the protagonist. The singing is almost indecently ravishing and yet she never takes you beyond the brink, even when she sails into stratospheric ornaments. ... The final strains of the ‘Alleluja!’ of Jauchzet say it all.  Jonathan Freeman-Attwood (Recording of the Month)
