About

For her recording on the Prospero label, the American pianist Wendy Waterman chose some of her favourite pieces. In 1955, the then 10-year-old Wendy allegedly took eitght curtain calls for her concert at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

This recording features piano music that has been with her all her life and that she has always loved. Nevertheless, since her debut in 1955, the artist has seen many of the works in a different way today, and so she brings her experiences and insights that have matured over the years to this recording.

Wendy is the niece and pupil of the legendary piano teacher and co-founder of the Leeds International Piano Competition. When talking of her niece, Dame Fanny was heard to remark: “When the great Annie Fischer heard her [Wendy] play Bach’s D minor Concerto, she said she’d never heard a better performance. People said Wendy was a child prodigy, and I said, ‘Excuse me! Mozart and Beethoven were prodigies. What we have now are very gifted children.’”
