About

Mesmerising sound: “I search for purity. For relationships in perfect equilibrium. As in a Japanese garden. Stones lie there, but they have not simply been laid there by someone; they each have a meaning. A story.” At the start of his career, the Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi was a loyal member of the avant-garde – but his yearning for Romanticism led him to a completely new style: minimalist, pure, hypnotically beautiful. With grace and wonderfully meditative clarity, pianist Dalal plays the maestro’s best-loved pieces on this album.

“Even as a child I loved his music. Today I am very proud to be giving my own interpretation of it.” Young Austrian pianist Dalal has dedicated her new album to no one less than Ludovico Einaudi, one of the most successful composers of our time. Often imitated, never truly equaled, Ludovico Einaudi is acknowledged as the initiator of the “peaceful piano” movement with his countless works in the Romantic tradition. With young artists interpreting his music and giving new facets to it, he has ultimately taken his place among the classics. With tracks stringing together like film scenes, Dalal is the narrator of one great story on this album. With Fly, Nuvole Bianche, Una Mattina and Le Onde, one Einaudi hit succeeds another. Dalal, successful both as a musician and as an actress, lives in Los Angeles and has a special connection to Romantic piano pieces: her ancestor Franz von Bruchmann was a friend and patron of Franz Schubert, who set several of Bruchmann’s poems to music.
