Renowned for his meticulous study of musical sources, he here performs Haydn’s complete piano sonatas –  captivating works which prove that Haydn deserves to be known as ‘the father of the piano sonata’, not just ‘the father of the symphony’. His sonatas exercised a decisive influence on Beethoven, the composer with whom Buchbinder is identified above all.
