About
An invitation to perform with the renowned Scottish Chamber Orchestra in summer 2016 revealed an instant rapport; Corinne’s recording partner was secured. Chrysalis marks Corinne’s return to form, as she takes centre stage in concertos by Monn and Haydn plus Couperin’s Pièces en Concert. Corinne returns to Monn’s original notes for her performance of the concerto made famous by Jacqueline Du Pré. In staying true to the composer’s intentions Corinne creates a purposeful and stylistic journey towards the Haydn Concerto. Overcoming the technical challenges presented by the Haydn concerto is of particular significance for the indomitable cellist. The personalized cadenzas are a fitting representation of her inspirational return to her virtuosic best.
A multi prize-winning cellist, Corinne Morris can count Mstislav Rostropovich and Paul Tortelier among her admirers. Corinne has enjoyed success at the Maria Canals International Cello Competition in Barcelona and at the International French Music Competition in Paris. Corinne has appeared throughout Europe and beyond, and has recently given highly successful London recitals at St Martin in the Fields, Fairfield Halls and Blackheath Halls.
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra is a world-renowned orchestra with an outstanding reputation for Mozart; its extensive discography features Robin Ticciati, Charles Mackerras, Elizabeth Watts, Sean Shibe, Karen Cargill, Francesco Piemontesi and Ingrid Fliter.
‘The French portion of Morris’s soul soars in her graciously idiomatic playing.’ - Voix des Arts
‘Ms Morris’ 1876 Miremont cello’s rich warm brown voice sang joyfully, precisely, elegantly: her playing was expressive, but restrained.’ - ScotsGay
‘Morris drew every ounce of expression from the slow movement.’ - The Strad
