About

Everything in this programme is based on a poem: Poulenc's homage to Garcia Lorca, the wonderful evocation of the beautiful Arethusa who turns into a fountain; Chausson's Poème on Turgenev's Song of Triumphant Love; the subtle charm of Fauré. As a bonus even Goethe's famous 'Erlkönig' is here.

Violinist Irène Duval was born in 1992 to a French father and Korean mother, and has been praised as an artist of great talent (Deutsche Freie Presse) and for the infinite delicacy (Le Populaire du centre) and astonishing virtuosity (Revelation Classiques, Prades) of her playing. Irène plays a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin of 1850, a copy of the Sancy Stradivarius, which is on loan to her by a private sponsor. This is her debut recording.
