About
It was Peskin who wrote the music that brought fame to this highly talented young musician. Here Giuliano Sommerhalder explores this association born of need but developing into an immensely productive symbiosis.
Three trumpet concertos by Peskin are on this disc and although the orchestral accompaniment announced in the title was never produced, the piano part performed by Kasia Wieczorek on this recording, is an able replacement for the proposed orchestra.
Giuliano Sommerhalder's trumpet playing is in a class all by itself. At the age of twelve he won the trumpet competition at Moscow's Tchaikovsky Conservatory and with it a friendship with Timofei Dokschitzer.
