The internationally renowned Saint Thomas Choir of Men & Boys and their director John Scott make their second appearance on the Resonus Classics label with a thrilling album of music for Christmas.
Focused around settings of medieval and traditional texts and music for the season, the two main works of the disc are Britten’s evocative ‘A Ceremony of Carols’ and its later companion piece for harp and treble voices ‘Dancing Day’ by the contemporary composer John Rutter – both works are performed live in concert each year by the trebles of the choir.
‘On the evidence of this recording, the New Yorkers can hold their own with their better-known European counterparts in precision and beauty of sound.’ - Fanfare
‘Scott directs his well-honed forces in authoritative readings’ - Choir and Organ
