Joseph Haydn and Boccherini Luigi are two protagonists of the 'Wiener Klassik' that have some striking similarities: both reinvented themselves in the seclusion of the province, both shaped the genre of the string quartet. Yet they pursued different approaches in their music that they refined in their own way.
The Ensemble Cordia, under the direction of Erich Höbarth, presents their works on this CD.
