About
During the first half of the 17th century, a combination of affluence and Protestantism led to significant changes in the creation and consumption of both music and art, with a rise in middle-class picture-collecting and music-making.
Presented here are works by many of the composers at the forefront of musical life during this period, complemented by the National Gallery’s collection of paintings by Rembrandt van Rijn.
