About

The legacy of three unique musicians who died under dictatorships continues in these little known and recently discovered recordings.

Oswald Kabasta abetted the Nazi regime to further his ambitions but ended in suicide. Alfred Hoehn’s heart failed while preserving musical sanity within the Third Reich. Oskar Fried defected to the USSR and may have been murdered by Stalin.

Newly uncovered writings by these artists are featured in the booklet’s liner notes.

Recordings made 1937–1944.
