'The Evening Choir' is an offering of sacred choral music with something to suit all tastes, from pieces composed with the amateur choir in mind to works for professional ensembles and liturgical performance.
Carson Cooman (b.1982), the American composer, has a catalogue of hundreds of works in many forms - from solo instrumental pieces to operas, and from orchestral works to hymn tunes. Cooman’s compositional work appears on over 40 recordings, including 21 complete CDs on various labels, to date. His music has been performed on all six inhabited continents in venues that range from the stage of Carnegie Hall to the basket of a hot air balloon. He has served as composer in residence for The Memorial Church at Harvard University and the Episcopal Cathedral Church of St Paul.
Cooman’s composition studies were with Bernard Rands, Judith Weir, Alan Fletcher and James Willey. As an active concert organist, Cooman specialises in the performance of contemporary music. Over 150 new works have been composed for him by composers from around the world, and his organ performances can also be heard on a number of CD recordings.
