About
Antonio Pasculli, who lived from 1842 to 1924, was a legendary Italian oboist and composer who became known as 'the Paganini of the oboe' owing to his astonishing technical virtuosity on the oboe and cor anglais, and for his superb compositional skills.
He left a lot of music for the cor anglais as well as for the oboe, and we are particularly proud to present this complete recital devoted to some of his most brilliant compositions for the instrument, with many of his works based upon famous themes from Italian operas of the 19th-century.
In addition, this outstandingly played and recorded CD includes music by two earlier composers for the cor anglais, and the result is a dazzling display of virtuoso playing and expressive characterisation by Martin Frutiger, one of the leading exponents on the cor anglais currently before the public.
