Giorgio Koukl (piano)About
Selected from particularly fertile periods of Tcherepnin’s career, these works include a remarkable version of the 'Volga Boatman’s Song' in the bravura Slavic Transcriptions, and the vividly imaginative Le monde en vitrine influenced by Stravinsky.
Song and Refrain experiments with beautiful melody and rhythmic freedom, while mystery surrounds the three-minute gem Rondo a la Russe and the unpublished Prayer.
Giorgio Koukl is a pianist/harpsichordist and composer based in Lugano, Switzerland. Born in Prague, he studied at the State Music School and Conservatoire before moving to Switzerland and continuing his studies at the Conservatoires of Zürich and Milan.
“Getting to know more of Tcherepnin’s brilliant and wonderful music has been one of the highlights of my musical year […] Giorgio Koukl’s playing is phenomenal…” – MusicWeb International
“As with the previous three discs Giorgio Koukl is the perfect advocate and it is hard to imagine that his interpretations will be surpassed. …This is another adorable disc of scintillating music brilliantly played and cannot be praised highly enough.” - MusicWeb International (Tcherepnin Vol.4)
