A new recording of the famous Father Willis organ in Truro Cathedral – regarded by many as Willis’ finest organ, and one of the finest organs in the UK.
This is the first new solo recording of this instrument in over eight years, and the debut solo recording from Luke Bond – Truro’s gifted young assistant organist.
It contains a varied and entertaining programme, with works from Germany, France and England, designed to show the wide range of colour from this wonderful instrument.
Popular symphonic repertoire from Widor and Guilmant is joined by less frequently heard works from Mendelssohn, Walton, Whitlock, Grainger and MacMillan.
It also includes first recordings of the organ solo arrangement of Walton’s ‘Spitfire’ Prelude and Fugue, and a major new solo organ work from British rising-star composer David Bednall ‘Magna voce cane et magno cum jubilo’ – ‘Sing with a great voice and great joy’.
Total Playing time: 63:58
