Rohan de Saram was a member of the supreme ensemble the Arditti Quartet for over 20 years. He performed as a soloist with the major international orchestras.
Many major contemporary works for cello were written specially for him, and his recording of the Berio Sequenzas was rated as one of the “10 Best Recordings” of 2006 by the New York Times.
De Saram studied with Gaspar Casadó and Pablo Casals, and worked with composers such as Poulenc, Kodály, Shostakovich and Walton.
"de Saram is a cello phenomenon, one of the greatest cellists of our time" - Kölnische Rundshau, Germany
“There are few of his [de Saram] generation that have such gifts" - Pablo Casals
