Benedetto Boccuzzi (piano)About
Benedetto Boccuzzi (New York 1990) is an eclectic musician: pianist, composer, improviser and teacher. His repertoire as a solo pianist and chamber musician ranges from Frescobaldi and Purcell to the most recent contemporary compositions via Schubert, Debussy and Shostakovich. He performs regularly in Italy and Europe and collaborates with the flautist Alessandra Rombolà, Equilibrio Dinamico Dance Company (Bari) and La Chambre Magique Theatre Company, for which he composed and performed the stage music for Oscar Wilde's Salomé (directed by Michele Suozzo - Teatro Palladium, Rome). He specialized in the performance of the contemporary repertoire working with the Zahir Ensemble in Seville and the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto, he also worked as a piano accompanist at the Escola Superior de Música in Porto. In 2016 he completed his academic studies in piano with honours under the mentorship of the Prof. Roberto Bollea at the Conservatoire "N. Rota" in Monopoli. He studied with Prof. Óscar Martín Castro at the Conservatory "M. Castillo" in Seville, and specialized with Prof. Carlo Guaitoli at the Festival della Piana del Cavaliere. He studied harpsichord with the Prof. Marco Bisceglie and composition with the professors Marco della Sciucca and Federico Gardella. He regularly conducts educational activities, workshops and lectures on the contemporary repertoire, extended techniques and improvisation. His compositions have been performed in Italy, Germany, Spain and Romania.
