Steve Lodder (piano)About
‘...Tied Up with Strings’ is pianist Steve Lodder’s second solo album. He performs a selection of his favourite songs and original compositions, and as one would expect with a player of his pedigree and experience, the results are astounding.
Drawing on both jazz and classical without being bound to either, the album will appeal to fans of Andy Sheppard, ECM and Joanna MacGregor, as Steve presents a winning mixture of his own compositions, J S Bach, William Byrd, and his arrangement of the classic Motown song 'What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?'. Sublime stuff.
Steve Lodder is widely known through his work with the elite of UK jazz musicians, including Andy Sheppard and John Etheridge. He was a founding member of the Zappatistas, an outfit dedicated to reworking the catalogue of Frank Zappa, and has collaborated with Robert Wyatt in a song writing team for singer Monica Vasconcelos. More recently Steve Lodder has been performing with Dylan Howe on his ‘Subterranean’ tour, where he is responsible for creating the electronic soundscapes of Bowie’s 70s Berlin output.
