About
Not only did the most important English composers of the twentieth century pay tribute to a great art song tradition, but now the singers Alison Browner and Sharon Carty - as well as the pianist Andreas Frese - are doing so as well.
On their new Genuin CD (for Frese already the third publication on the Leipzig label) they present rarely performed English treasures: songs by John Ireland, Michael Head and Benjamin Britten. The three sensitive interpreters thus penetrate deep into the green heart of the isle: the subjects are love, valley and brooks, and, naturally, the last rose of summer.
